A Fan Favourite Tough Guy

The Worldstar ten game, seven country tour is over, ending on December 22nd with a 4 - 3 win in Poland. European hockey is played with a different emphasis than in North America, and "enforcers" are rare, but it seems a lot of the game's fans across the pond know at least one of our tough guys. He didn't drop his gloves once during the tour, but he did score one of the Stars' goals in the final victory. Tie Domi found himself the centre of much attention and autograph seeking while he toured with the team. The experience, he said, was "something I'll cherish forever." Apparently it has moved him to consider playing in Sweden if talks to resolve the NHL lockout are a bust. More and more it looks like that will be the case. A moment of silence, please, for the bereft fans on this side of the pond.

You wouldn't mind sharing your Tie with the Europeans, would you? I think the reason Tie has a natural appeal for a lot of people, isn't because he's an 'enforcer' -- he's changed his play a lot since that incident, and I don't think he's as easy to drop his gloves anymore -- I think it's because he's a genuine nice guy; and at his height, his ferocious playing, and not to mention his pay, he comes across to many as an underdog. He's a hockey fan's player.
